CASO DE ESTUDIO 1: Trazo peatonal
For my BA degree project I decided to work with the Bogota's public transportation system, TransMilenio. After analysing the system, I concluded that the space organization of the stations was one of the most relevant entropies to work with.

Para mi proyecto de grado de la carrera universitaria decidí trabajar con el sistema de transporte publico de Bogotá, TransMilenio. Al analizar el sistema concluí que la organización espacial de las estaciones era una de las entropías mas relevantes del sistema que habían que trabajar.

The results of the ethnography showed that the system had an spacial problem. Because there is no separation in the space, the passengers walking crash with the ones that are waiting for the bus slowing down the service.

Los resultados de la etnografía mostraron que el sistema tenía un problema en los espacios. Al no estar delimitados, los pasajeros que se desplazan cochan con los que están esperando, entorpeciendo y disminuyendo la velocidad del servicio.

Once I understood and processed the ethnography results and the tipology analysis, I started to brainstorm bearing in mind all the requirements and determinants that the researches showed.

Al haber entendido y procesado los resultados de la etnografía y del análisis de tipologías, procedí a realizar la lluvia de ideas teniendo en cuenta los requerimientos y determinantes que mostraron las investigaciones.

Based on the general features that the results of the researches showed, the designs were evaluated. After I choose two proposals and made them in cardboard to test them.

Una vez evaluados los diseños con base en las caracterAísticas que arrojaron las investigaciones, seleccione dos de las propuestas y las modele en cartón para poder hacer comprobaciones.
Bearing in mind the ethnography, the models were tested in some of the stations less populated to prove the ideas. The results of this step were important to understand more of how the object should be.

Teniendo en cuenta la etnografía, las pruebas de los modelos se hicieron en algunas estaciones con menor cogestión de pasajeros para probar las ideas. Los resultados de esta etapa fueron fundamentales para poder entender mas de como podría ser el objecto.

With the results of the previous step in mind, I kept brain storming looking to find the best possible solution.

Some other mock ups were made to see new features in real scale and in the context. They were made in vacuum forming, expanded PS and cardboard.

Algunos modelos se hicieron para poder las nuevas características a escala real y en contexto. Se hicieron en termoformado, PS expandido y cartón.
I produced several vacuum formed prototypes to be able to test them in the real context to prove the possible idea solutions and to understand the product to improve it.

Fabriqué varios prototipos termoformados para poder hacer comprobaciones reales de las ideas de solución además de poder entender el producto para mejorarlo.

For the prototype I had to make the tooling for each one of the parts of the product. Base and axis were made by blow moulding and the main body was made by the process of vaccum forming.

Para el prototipo hubo que fabricar los moldes
respectivos para cada parte del producto. La base y los ejes se fabricaron en soplado y el cuerpo en termoformado.

A high number of modules were produced to make some trials in different stations during one year.

Se fabricaron un número significativo de módulos para hacer pruebas en varias estaciones a lo largo de un año de manera permanente.

After understanding the structural, productive, mechanical and functional failures of the prototype, I redesigned the module making it simpler and adjusting everything to the final productive processes (rotation and blow moulding). After that I made the tooling for each piece.

Después de entender las fallas estructurales, productivas, mecánicas y funcionales del prototipo, re-diseñé el módulo depurándolo y ajustando todo a los procesos productivos finales (rotomoldeo y soplado). Posteriormente continué con la fabricación de los moldes respectivos para cada pieza.

The final result was a systemic solution, where the physical product is not the only response, it was a new way of organizing all the pedestrian flows within the TransMilenio stations. This is possible thanks to Trazo.

El resultado final fue una soluci€n sist» mica, en la cual no era solo un producto fÃsico sino toda una nueva manera de organizar los flujos peatonales dentro de las estaciones del Sistema TransMilenio. Esto es hecho con la ayuda de Trazo.
