Making solar products better.
Starting from a double purpose product already existent in the market, we had to understand all its variables and make an improved proposal.

Partiendo de un producto doble propósito existente, debíamos entender todas las variables del producto y hacer una propuesta mejorada con base en este.

The first thing that I did was to dissect the product that I was given to understand all its components and way of use. After that I understood its context of use and typologies in the market to be able to think new archetypes.

Lo primero que hice fue hacer una disectaci€n del producto que me fue entregado para entender todos sus componentes y funcionamiento. Posteriormente entendÃsu contexto de uso y tipologÃas del mercado para poder proponer nuevos arquetipos.
This step gave me clues to understand the requirement of the product. Its shape and aesthetics should recognize the context as a part of it.

It is important that a solar power product has prolonged exposure to light for it to work. This makes a solar powered torch difficult to put away. That's why I kept in mind the context as a main variable of the object.

Es muy importante que un producto solar tenga exposición prolongada a la luz para que funcione eficientemente. Esto hace que el almacenamiento de una linterna solar sea mas difícil. Es por esto que mantuve presente el contexto como parte importante del objecto.

Once chosen the proposal that fitted with the technical requirements as well as the market ones, I developed different prototypes looking for the maximum simplicity.

Una vez escogida una de las propuestas que encajaba con los requerimientos tanto técnicos como de mercado, desarrollé distintos prototipos buscando la mayor sencillez.

I designed a torch that is stored in a visible location. The handles of doors are typically used for do not disturb signs in hotels. I combined this archetype with the solar powered torch so that the door handle stores a night-light, or an
emergency torch.

Diseñé una linterna que se almacena en un sitio visible. Las manijas de las puertas son usadas para las señales de no molestar en hoteles. Combiné este arquetipo con el de una linterna solar, así de esta manera la manija almacena una luz auxiliar.

With a white board marker draw your favourite image.

With the solar panel facing outside to allow the battery to recharge hang it from the door handle.

So you can enjoy its night light with your sketch during the night.
